Bio:

Abandoned by his High elf mother at a young age, Galinndan was raised by his father until he was a young teenager. He was then orphaned in a fierce battle with bandit raiders where is father died protected one of his families age old dwarven friends and allies they were visiting at the time. His fathers dying wish was to have Galindann raised by the dwarfs he died protecting.

Such a request bound in blood was not denied.

Growing up as a half elf human in a dwarven stronghold was challenging to say the least for a young Galindann, he was often bullied and shunned by his dwarven peers in his early years, as the inherit distrust the mining folk have for elves was ever placed upon him. However, he had the grim determination of his late human father, as well as the skill and dexterity of his elven heritage to aid him. Wanting nothing more than to earn honour for his foster fathers dwarven house Rumnaheim, and repay the debt and sacrifice his new family had made in adopting him, Galinndan joined the Marthammor Duin Deep Defenders as an apprentice warrior, a posting of 2 years underground defending the mines and cities of various dwarven strongholds. Having to do battle with the Drow, Goblins, Orcs, troglodytes, giant centipedes, dark stalkers and many more unspeakable evils from the dark mountains roots.. His almost fanatical determination was fuelled by the general opinion of his fellow soldiers that he had no place being with them, and would be surely killed, combined with an often as not drunken disregard for his own safety meant Galinndan slowly but surely earned the respect of his soldiers in arms, and before long was considered one of their own.
p.
After his first 2 year mission with the defenders, Galinndan returned to his fathers stronghold, and was given the enormous honour of being able to forge a Great Axe of his own on the families forge, something that had not been allowed outside of dwarven blood in any of the bearded folks living memories. His foster father, Rakult, commanding him to bring great honour to himself, told him to return to the deep with his new axe that he gilded with the dwarven runes “Kazak Gorog” (common tongue “Battle Ale”) after his foster sons propensity for the amber liquid, and short temper.
p.
The followings 10 years with the defenders saw Galinndan grow as both a man and a warrior, someone his comrades not only saw as an equal, but often also looked to for leadership when the situation was dire. He was no longer a wet eared apprentice that could barely hold an axe, he was a seasoned underground warrior, that wielded Kazak Gorog with a bizarre combination of dwarvish style brute force and elvish finesse to devastating and deadly effect.
p.
In his 10th year, his company was ambushed by Deep Gorgons in a surprise push by an over zealous Orcish commander trying take one of the dwarves mithril mines. The situation was die, with his company getting beaten back by a combined force of Orcs and Gorgons, by which foul magic these two foes had allied is still a mystery. It was in this cave that his commander, a centuries old dwarf named Bazir the Ironfist took an giant black orcish arrow to the chest, piercing his armour by a foul sorcery, and fell, critically wounded. This demoralized his already outnumbered and wounded company, and a rout looked certain in which none would survive.
p.
Seeing his commander and friend fall, someone who had taught him so much, and on more occasions than he could remember saved his life lit a burning fury in Galinndan the likes of which songs were song about for many years hence. He emptied a skin of the most potent dwarvish brew down his throat (fondly referred to as “the rot” by most Deep Defenders), and bellowing the companies dwarvish battle cry so loud it seemed the stone itself shook “Or Uzgul Guzzen Or Af Zan” (common tongue: “I am death, feed me your souls”) he leapt through the air cutting a path through Orc and Gorgon alike to stand above the fallen Bazir. The drunken rage and fury in his eyes, and the speed and power in which he wielded his great axe Kazak Gorog made a circle of bodies around him the height of even the tallest of his dwarvish comrades. Seeing this bravery from one not even of dwarvish blood rallied his fellow Deep Defenders and the fury of the platoon of hardened warriors created a furious tidal wave of steel and blood that turned the tide of battle and forced the Orcish attacking party to retreat. Galinndan himself beheaded the great orc war chief Kabugbu as he tried to flee, when the last of the orcs had finally fled, Galinndan raised Bazir on his shield and carried him to the safety of the nearest dwarven village.
p.
After this great battle, and due in no small part to the recommendation of Bazir, a member of the Beserkers of Clangeddin Silverbeard, the elite underground fighting force of the Dwarven empire approached Galinndan and offered him a position in their ranks, a position that none other than those of dwarvish blood had held in the centuries the order and been in service. This was the greatest honor any soldier from the strongholds could hold, and Galinndan finally felt he had done his family proud.
p.
After many years fighting for the Beserkers, Galinndan returned to his village at his foster fathers request. He had no idea why, or for what purpose he had been summoned, but upon returning to Rakult, he saw that the rites of passage for a dwarven male had been organised, and he was told that due to the honor he had bestowed on himself, and that of his clan, he was to be made an official member of his fathers house, with all of the blood ties and honors that this allowed. He was henceforth known as Galinndan Rumnaheim, an honor he holds over even that of being made a beserker.
p.
After a time, his elvish blood spoke to him, even though he hated that part of himself, he became restless, unsatisfied with just knowing the ways of the deep, Galinndan spoke to his father at length about seeing the world, about learning more of the ways of other races. Seeing his son needed to explore his own path, Rakult suggested that there had been few of his clan that had gained honor outside of the mines and deep roads, and as such he had a great opportunity to help others in the name of Clan Rumnaheim if he left the caves and mountains that had become home, and explored the greater world.
p.
With that in mind, and after a huge farewell feast in his honor, Galinndan said farewell to his family and Clan, and left to explore the great expanse of the world for the first time.
